Tot Shabbat, K-2
Beginning our Journey: Teaching Our Torah (T.O.T) Shabbat
T.O.T. Shabbat is a time for our children and their parents to experience Shabbat through storytelling and music. Our program is led by our clergy and educator. TOT Shabbat is open to CBY families with children ages 2-6. We encourage your whole family to come (older and younger children are always welcome) and join us on Saturday mornings once a month at 9:00 a.m.
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade: Journey Through Our Jewish Stories
Weekly: Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30pm
Our Kindergarten program is an experience for the entire family to continue on their Jewish journey. Our children will explore upcoming Jewish holidays, Jewish food, and Jewish living through hands-on-learning activities.
Our 1st and 2nd grade program alternates from year to year so that our students have a unique experience every time they are here. This year we will take a Journey Through Our Jewish Stories. The three core concepts at the center of our Journey Through Our Jewish Stories are:
- Identifying key Jewish stories as they connect to Jewish holidays.
- Recognizing that Jewish stories explain why we celebrate the holidays.
- Learning to see the world through Jewish eyes.
Our program is enhanced with a once a month Family Program where parents come to learn in parallel and together with their students. During our year, 1st graders are honored at our Simchat Torah and Consecration Service as they begin their formal exploration of their Jewish identities.
