Help Us Resettle a Refugee

Thursday, May 18th, 2017

The plight of refugees has weighed heavily on our faith-based community.  Watching families suffering in war torn Syria, hearing about the persecution of translators who risked their lives to support American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and reading about the plight of victims of human trafficking has compelled us to act.

CBY has joined forces with Pleasantville Community Synagogue and Westchester Jewish Community Services to resettle a refugee family in Westchester.  This sacred work will take a village. The family typically arrives with only the clothes on their backs.  They need an apartment, furniture, clothing, food- all the basics. They need healthcare and ultimately, employment, and, of course, education.  We will help them with all of these and more.

We are counting on our wonderful congregation to pledge their time and money to make this a reality. There will be opportunities for everyone, whatever your interests or skills.  If you know someone who has an affordable apartment, if you can shop or cook or drive or teach English, we need you.
