I am honored to have been asked to join the board of Congregation B’nai Yisrael.  We moved to Armonk in 2006 and joined CBY in 2014.  It was important for us to belong to a synagogue that was community based - I wanted Judiasm to be an integral part of my childrens’ lives, not a place just to go to for Hebrew school or during the holidays.  A strong Jewish identity is very important for me to pass on to my kids - my mother was born in a refugee camp in Munich after WWII to two holocaust survivors.   My father was born to Zionists who moved to Israel in 1936 to help build the country.

I want my children to know that they are here today because their family and others have fought to be Jewish.

With three children in the JID program, I have joined the JID committee at CBY, finding it fulfilling to contribute ideas to help improve the school.  I believe the congregation will only thrive if we continue attracting young families, and young families want a Hebrew school program that is current and exciting as it is at CBY!
