Family Volunteer Opportunities
Chanukah Gift Giving Drive
Since 2011 our families have been coming together on a Sunday morning in December to wrap gifts for residents of the Pleasantville Cottage School, a residential treatment center for emotionally troubled young people. Each year we wrap and donate more than 300 gifts that are so generously donated by our congregants. In addition to wrapping, our children write and decorate holiday cards to accompany each gift. Our Gift Giving Drive is a great opportunity to teach our children the important of helping those in need.
Midnight Run
During the winter months our congregation participates in the Midnight Run, providing a meal, clothing and toiletries for New York City’s homeless. Our families help by donating essential items and food, preparing meals and packing up clothing/ blankets, and driving to NYC to deliver the donations to the homeless. While we are helping the homeless, we break through the barriers of prejudice and fear that separate us from “the homeless” and learn to see them as real people.
Macaroons for the Developmentally Disabled Seder
Every year the Caring and Social Action Committee volunteers to donate 300 homemade macaroons to a Seder for the developmentally disabled in Northern Westchester.
